~~~~~~~25 Aug continued~~~~~~~
The B709 was a road that was very scenic, a bit scary at times (certain portions becoming little more than a single lane with dropoffs on one side & mountain on the other), but very much worth the trip.  I have many photos of the storybook landscape of this part of our journey but not enough time or space to share them all...I have tried to select the best ones....
To the left...a farm with stone fencing...
Above...a stone fence corral for the sheep and/or goats that roam freely on this day...
Something we have learned since we have been in the UK...just because there is a line dividing the road doesn't mean that there is enough space for a vehicle on either side...
A welcome sight!
looking back the way we came...
lovely stream running along a pine forest
wild purple beauty growing on Scottish hillsides
heather growing on mountain that hugs our road
billy goat stare...
sheep ran from us when we slowed down for better photos
We stopped to visit the Traquair House...the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland...
all of us in front of Traquair House
peacock that Josh tried to make friends with...
Connor, William and Grandpa in the old walled garden at Traquair
Connor makes a friend...a lovely calico kitty
All of us at dinner in Edinburgh...we arrived late in the day so we grabbed a bite, went to our nearby hotel and then came back the next day to tour the city...
Josh entertains himself (and ladies at a nearby table) with part of his dinner...
The Ship on the Shore restaurant in Edinburgh (where we enjoyed our last meal of the day).
night lights on the water (near the Firth of Forth)...a perfect ending to a most adventurous  day...
I LOVE SCOTLAND!  : )
